Sports After School Program

Today we spent an amazing 2.5 hours within a Sports After School Program, De Uitdaging, (The Challenge) in Deventer and enjoyed EVERY minute of it! This program is very relaxed compared to our programs in Alberta but has some wonderful insights towards sports and just letting kids be kids! This of course is the most important part. Why do we want kids to grow up so fast? Why can't we just let them be kids? In this program it is based on the children's interests as ours are in Alberta but ours is based on S.P.I.C.E (Social, Physical, Intellectual, Creativity, and Emotional Development) and theirs is based on getting children active and letting them be outside but also uses a Sports Facility that if children want to play games inside they are able to do so and for when the weather doesn't co-operate. We had an amazing time playing outside with the children and of course Tam was also interested in the running of the program as she wants to open her own Child Care Facility one day. So she was talking with Tim and Kim about funding, their schooling, how they get ideas and the rates of child care in Holland. It was amazing and thank you to Tim and Kim for your information and letting us be a part of your program. We look forward to volunteering again on Thursday. Also thank you to Angelique for getting us in contact with Tim, it is greatly appreciated and we LOVED it!
